Plane Ride Essentials

It’s getting to be vacation time. Can I get a “WooHoo!?” Whether you are gearing up for Spring Break, an extended Easter, or counting down the days til school is out for the summer vacation, the fantastic invention that is vacation is coming.

With that vacation usually comes a plane ride. Now, for some, they hate planes. For others, they love them. Me? Well, Preston and I have been down-right blessed to get to travel all over and with the help of Southwest I’ve come to love riding in a plane! (Seriously, only fly SW!)

Through our travels, I’ve found there are some essentials that seem to make the ride just a little more enjoyable.

  • Headphones: Unless, you’re my husband who falls asleep before the plane takes off you’ll want some headphones to help calm and make the ride more enjoyable. If you’re looking for headphones, these are my favorite: http://Beats Solo3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones – Black No more worrying about that cord getting in your way.
  • Downloaded Playlist and Movies: DOWNLOAD! I can’t stress this enough. Sometimes your plane will have wi-fi, sometimes you pay, sometimes it’s so slow it doesn’t matter that it’s free. Either way, when you’ve downloaded you don’t need to worry. So go onto your Apple Music and download your favorite playlist to your phone or iPad. Next, get onto Netflix and download your favorite movie or TV show. Suggestion? Parks and Rec. All day. Everyday.
  • Pillow and Blanket: It’s always best to have a small blanket and pillow/headrest. The temperature in the plane can be freezing and you’ll want something to keep you warm. So snuggle up, bug. It’s going to be a great flight.
  • Wear comfy clothes/layers: I know I know, you’re stoked to get on vacation so you dress up all cute, but honey when you’re sitting in those tight sections the last thing you want on is heels and a dress. So no need to get all ragged on us, but pull out the workout leggings and comfy sweatshirt. You’ll be on that plane awhile. Get comfortable. Also, wear layers. Sometimes the temperature goes from freezing to so hot you’ll feel like you’re going to roast to death. Having layers on is a lifesaver!
  • Water bottle/Snacks: Now, SW does an incredible job of making sure you get a free snack and drink, but sometimes that just doesn’t cut it. So make sure you pack some granola bars such as: http://CLIF BAR – Energy Bar – Chocolate Chip – (2.4 Ounce Protein Bar, 12 Count) Cliff bars are filling and let’s be real, chocolate chip is a no brainer.
  • Dramamine/Essential Oils: This last one is for the people who need some calming down due to nervousness of flying or they have motion sickness. Either way, make sure you have these in your bag. They help a ton with making you less anxious and you won’t be blowing into a brown paper bag.
  • Portable Charger/Power Strip: I’d hate to have your electronics dying on you on the plane or in the terminal. The power strip is amazing because you don’t have to search for an outlet. Find one and you’ll be good to go. Plus, you’ll make a ton of friends because people will see you have extra spots and ask to use them!
  • Shooters: If this vacation is kid-friendly, forget this last one. Otherwise, grab a shooter or two to have on the plane. It passes the liquid test through security and instead of paying for an expensive drink just grab your free drink and put in your shooter. Voilà! Your own mixed drink. Ps. Drink Responsibly! I don’t want to see a viral video of you reenacting the scene from Bridesmaids.

Now, go get ready for your flight and enjoy your vacation! You deserve it!
