5 Out Of The Box Ideas For Your Mama This Mother’s Day!

Mother’s Day! The one day out of the year where you best believe that if you’re a mama you’re going to get spoiled. If that’s not true for you let me know and I’ll shower you with love. Why? Because, girl, you deserve it! I’m not a mother, yet, but if I can be half the mom to my kiddos that my mother, Julie, was to my siblings and I they’ll be just fine.

Honestly, mothers should have a “special day” once a month. A “Treat Yo Self” day. I mean what person wakes up ridiculously early, gets themselves ready, cooks breakfast, get kids all ready and then goes and works a full-time job. Just to come home and play with the kids or go to their multiple concerts, sporting events, or host the coolest Spongebob Squarepants party for your sister or a killer Sweet 16 party. Yes, my amazing mom did that. Did I mention she’s a rockstar?

So when it comes to gifts for Mother’s Day how do you pick the right one? When you’re growing up you usually just gave your mom the plant and card you made at school. I don’t know about you, but I have a horrible green thumb so for me plants are out. And a card? Really, $5.99 for a piece of paper? Unless it’s homemade, no way.

As we grow up most the time it’s flowers, wine, or cook them some dinner. All incredible things, but since my mama is extra legendary I want her to get something extra special. So I’ve complied my favorite out the of box ideas to help you give your mom something different, yet just as amazing as she is.

  1. Paint and Drink Night: There are a ton of amazing places to go paint a gorgeous picture and drink some wine. What a great way to spend some one-on-one time with your mom. At the end of the day I’m pretty sure my mom wants to laugh and talk about life, not just a box of chocolates. If your mom is allergic to wine, like my mother, ask the place if they have other options or if you can bring in your own.
  2. Nutri Ninja Bullet: I’m obsessed with the Ninja Bullet. Why? Because it’s super easy to use and the container you used to mix your drink can have a lid popped on and it’s your cup! Convenient! Also, if your mom is on a health kick it can make great smoothies or if it’s a gorgeous summer’s night daiquiris and margaritas are delicious and would help make a great mother-daughter date night on the porch!
  3. DeskCycle Bike: Now, our mom sits in a desk all day and wanted a way to get moving. So her amazing kids pulled together and got her this! She loves it. This is a great way to get that heart-rate moving while they are working! It’s a touch expensive, but it’s your mother and go in on it with all your siblings. Gift shopping is completed and your mom is one happy camper!
  4. Clean her entire house or do yard work: If you’re balling on a budget, go over and clean her house. When I say clean, I don’t mean pick up a few things, I mean deep clean. Do the dirty stuff that no one wants to do. You can send her out for a shopping day or just let her read her favorite book on the couch.
  5. Subscription Box: These are the latest craze! You pay a one time fee or quarterly however you want and they’ll send you a box of fun stuff! I’ve heard FaithBox and FabFitFun box are great! FaithBox is a box that will give you different things to help improve your faith life such as bible studies, books, and they’ll throw in cute mugs etc. FabFitFun is all about health and wellness options! Go check them out!

At the end of the day, no matter what you decide to get your rockstar of a mom the biggest gift will be time. So make sure you take time out of your day on Sunday and visit with them, call them, or FaceTime them. Don’t just make it for Sunday either. Go on the weekdays or weekends. Spend as much time with them as possible because you won’t look back later in life and go “So glad I worked that extra shift or I spent that whole day binge watching Netflix.” You’ll say, “I wish I would’ve played cards one more round with her, took the cooking class with her, or spent the day treating her like a queen shopping.”

Have a blessed Mother’s Day! Feel free to comment below your favorite thing about your mama and a photo of you two if you want!
