Why You Need To Quiet Your Inner Critic
Your inner critic. Anyone got one of those? The voice in your head, or more the devil, who likes to remind you of all your shortcomings. You know who I’m talking about, right?
Man, how we wish he/she would just go away forever. Sadly, they will always be there, but wouldn’t it be nice if they weren’t as loud?
It be great if their talk wasn’t the first thing in your head, but instead positivity, right?
Same, girl, same!
You see, for the longest time my inner critic loved to terrorize me. Sure, I’m a pretty great wife, but she likes to tell me I’m not. I’m a pretty stellar teacher, but boy can she make me sweat about not getting an activity done. I would constantly have these thoughts of unworthiness. Thoughts that my students deserved a better teacher or my husband deserved a better wife.
Insert downward spiral. Insert depression.
Do you see how those negative thoughts can affect your whole outlook on life? Thankfully, I became self-aware. After countless parents, coworkers, and bosses telling me how great I was and my husband constantly reminded me how amazing of a wife and mother I am, I began to listen. Now, my husband will tell you I still don’t fully hear it, but I’m a work in progress, not perfection, right?
I began to realize that those thoughts the devil had placed in my mind were lies.
Lies.
End of discussion.
Now what? Would I just let the lies keep coming or would I do something about them? What about you? Will you let those lies keep filtering in, or will you step up and tell them to step out?
What I learned and I hope you now will too is that you need to replace those negative thoughts with positive ones.
Why?
God didn’t create you to talk down to yourself. Yes, I’m speaking to myself right now. 1000%
God didn’t make us in His image so that we could stand in front of a mirror looking at all our flaws.
He didn’t create us fearfully and wonderfully so that anytime something good happened we would respond with we don’t deserve it.
God didn’t make us the chosen so that we would believe we are unworthy.
He created us in His image to make sure we knew we are perfect through Jesus’s blood.
God created us fearfully and wonderfully with incredible, unquie talents to be used for His glory.
The choice is yours. Will you keep letting the devil devour your thoughts or will you take charge and conquer?
“Faith, I’ll take charge!”
Amazing! Me, too! In this together, right?
If you truly are ready to take charge, head on over to my post How to Combat Your Inner Critic. There you will find the tools needed to kick those thoughts to the curb.
Pray it’s a blessing,
Faith

I absolutely love the message! ❤️ I’m guilty of constantly critiquing myself, I have to admit. I know it’s better to embrace myself, and these are great tips!
