How to Create a Self-Care Kit

Creating a self-care kit for stressful times can be so benefical to your mental health. Recently, I was scrolling through Pinterest, like I always do, and I came across a self-care kit. Now, I’ve always had one, I just didn’t realize there was such a thing! Isn’t that funny how that happens?!

I’ve found that having a little kit, or basket, to be there when I’m feeling down, exasperated, or just not at my top can be such a relief. Below, I’ll be sharing how to create your own self-care kit.

First, find a box, basket, or bag that you want to fill with all your fun goodies.

Got it?

I use a basket. You can grab one here. I love them because they are plastic so can’t stain, yet still look super adorable. Next, feel free to decorate or post motivational stickers around. This is totally optional. I don’t, but I have seen so many cute ones so whatever floats that boat.

Next, fill it with all your incredible goodies. There is no wrong way to make a kit. At the end of the day, what makes you happy. Put it in the box. Now, I know puppies make you happy, but I’m thinking more tangible, non-barking things.

Bath Time!

You could put in things for a relaxing bath. I’m a huge fan of Dr. Teal’s supplies. They are packed with essentials oils and all good things to help release some soreness in your muscles. The lavender bubble bath and epsom salt is what I use. Also, can you BE any more relaxed if you have a bath bomb? One, they are insanely cool to watch and also they are filled with so many good smells. These are my favorite. I’m a sucker for these!

Mind

Another group of things could be like books, journals, or devotionals. You could grab a fun read such as Harry Potter or you could grab a book more around the personal development area. Right now, I’m in love with Hal Elrod’s Miracle Morning. All about making the most out of your morning time. Game changer for me! Maybe you love to color, grab an adult coloring book and go to town!

Spiritual

Maybe you want to grow closer to God. Open up your Bible, Bible app, or grab a devotional. The one I’m reading now is 100 Days to Brave. All about being courageous in your every day life! If you don’t feel like reading, writing can be just as benefical. Head over to my Pinterest where I pin amazing journal prompts for you to use. Grab the journal I created filled with journal prompts, prayer, and time for reflection!

Sensory

Fill your kit with things that renew your senses. For example, grab a tea bag and make a cup of tea. I’m a sucker from some hot earl grey tea! Light a favorite candle and let it fill your house with coziness. You can’t go wrong with Japenese Cherry Blossom. It was good in the early 2000s and it’s still amazing today. Put in a face mask, pull out the cucumbers, put on some lotion, and go full spa. Finally, you could grab some cozy socks or slippers and cuddle up like little bunnies. 🙂

Love

Lastly, fill your kit with memories from loved ones. Grab the concert tickets that remind you of a funny memory. Take the birthday card, filled with an amazing note, from a passed loved one. Put photos of great times and great friends. All to remind you of how blessed you are in this life.

Above are a ton of ways to fill your kit. Again, you do you. Whatever makes you feel warm inside, whatever puts a smile on your face, put it in the box. Keep the puppy outside 😉

Pin for Later

I pray that these self-care tools may be a blessing to you. If you have created your own kit, post it below. I’m always interested in what everyone puts in thier kit!

Blessings,
